Lead Guitar Notes – Train Your Ear to Find Your Playing Style

At this point we’ve gotten you to play your first lead solo over a chord progression and now it’s time to show you how lead guitar notes – when played in different places completely transform the feel and mood of the song.  Training your ear to understand the differences between keys is how you’ll be able to figure out ultimately what your style is going to be.

It may sound intimidating and whole too much like book learning to talk about music theory and key changes as such.  What I’d rather have you focus on is the sound of the lead as you play it in the first position (which we taught you in the last lesson), and then listen to how much different it sounds and feels when played in the second position.  The timing changes, the mood of the song changes, everything about the feel of the lead and song changes… yet we’re still playing our lead over the exact same chord riff we recorded in lesson two.  If this lesson doesn’t open your eyes to a whole new world of possibility… I can’t imagine what will.  As always, feel free to simply sign up for the free video lessons online.  No charge or obligation.
