I found another bonus lesson I wrote about simple lead guitar exercises I do to warm up everyday. They help me maintain great left hand / right hand coordination and keep me blistering fast yet accurate.
The lesson involves a four finger technique moving quickly up a single string with variations frontwards, backwards, and covering (eventually) all six strings. Not only does this build great coordination and speed but for beginner guitarists you can really practice the left hand technique and build up the strong but limber hand strength needed to really play great guitar. Blaze on!
There are more exercises like this one covered in the complete basic DVD set.
