So if you’re having problems playing electric guitar chords because maybe your hands haven’t fully developed the strength they need fear not, because there is a way you can still play songs written for barre chords.
The answer to your dilemna could be very well to use a capo (see illustration here). By using the capo as a bridge across the fret board your index finger no longer needs to be able to engage all the strings in a barre. The capo takes the place of your index finger, allowing you to play the electric guitar chords as though they were on open strings. Kewl huh?
At any rate, many acoustic guitar songs are written and played this way due to the heavier gauge strings those instruments require. Acoustics can be quite painful to play if you haven’t built up the proper callouses on your fingers.
